Bearing selection for heat and corrosion
High-temperature and corrosion-resistant are not interchangeable requirements. Start with the actual duty, then confirm the complete bearing design against it. A matching size or a generic material label does not establish suitability.
People and industrial backgrounds are application illustrations; product photography and specifications are identified separately.Prepared by GSNK · Updated:
Separate the three duty cases
A heat-led request needs the normal bearing operating temperature, maximum excursions and their duration. A corrosion-led request needs the medium, concentration, exposure and cleaning conditions. When both occur together, submit both sets of conditions in one request; approval for one condition is not approval for the combination.
- Heat only: normal temperature, peaks, duration and operating cycles
- Corrosion only: medium, concentration and exposure pattern
- Combined duty: temperature and chemical exposure at the same time
Record conditions at the bearing position
Distinguish equipment or process temperature from a measured temperature at the bearing. State the measurement location and mark estimates as estimates. Record speed, radial and axial load when known, lubrication, seals, contamination, start-stop cycles and cleaning. Leave unknown values open rather than substituting a catalog assumption.
Verify the complete proposal, not just a label
Ask the supplier to identify the complete proposed model and suffixes and explain which stated conditions have been checked. Request the relevant material identification, lubrication limits and supporting product or test documentation where applicable. A stainless-steel description, a dimensional match or a peak temperature alone is not a complete selection approval.
- Full model, suffix and d / D / B dimensions in millimetres
- Single bearing or matched set and quantity basis
- Confirmed conditions, evidence supplied and unresolved requirements
- Delivery destination, required documents and inspection scope
Submit the duty before agreeing the final model
GSNK has not published verified material grades or maximum service-temperature ratings for this product line. This guide is a purchasing checklist, not a product approval or a guarantee of availability. Send drawings, marking photographs and the duty record for confirmation. The LNG/T35D catalog does not establish suitability for a hot or corrosive application.
Frequently asked questions
Final checks before inquiry
Does corrosion-resistant mean suitable for high temperature?
No. Treat temperature and chemical exposure as separate requirements and confirm their combination for the complete proposed bearing.
Can a peak temperature be used as a continuous-service rating?
No. Provide the normal operating condition, peak duration and cycling, then obtain confirmation for the proposed bearing.
Can GSNK quote when the final model is unknown?
Submit the existing markings or drawings, dimensions, quantity and operating duty. Identification and suitability remain subject to confirmation; this page does not establish a final model.
